If I am reviewing the experience, I got from Apevie. It was 110% awesome. Five stars all the way! amazing communication, great pricing quick fulfillment, knowledgeable probably one of the most solid vendors you can deal with.
If I am reviewing the product itself, I would probably give it a solid three out of five with a 50 PPD Piax super. It really requires a lot of messing with to get it working even remotely well and I’m not using it on a slouch of a PC either it’s a thread ripper with a 3090. Lots of bugs related to USB audio, DisplayPort compatibility, and just overall a hobby in itself that has a steep learning curve just to get it to work acceptably (certainly not plug and play). Certain things can be fixed with tweaking like getting better frame rates with dynamic foviated rendering, at a cost of some really quirky performance when using this feature, that can be really annoying to look at in your peripheral vision (and following everything across the screen with your eyes to get it to focus is about as annoying as typing on an Apple Vision Pro keyboard with your eyes). The FOV is about what I would expect from most of these type of headsets. It’s not any better than an HTC Vive Pro. I would say the most annoying feature with this headset that is not easy to fix is the poor inside out tracking. It tracks much worse than a quest3 (and the included controller tracking is trash and constantly drifting regardless of lighting) requires constant re-centering. You have to recalibrate the room almost every time you use it since floor level keeps drifting. And I’m not trying to do anything crazy room scale. This is just sitting in a chair playing DCS. The problem is fixable by switching to lighthouse tracking, but there is currently no hardware available yet to do it from the manufacturer and their are third-party solutions, but they are very expensive and complex to set up (using vive trackers for headset +. Index controllers to replace the included trash). I suppose it depends on your priorities what I would recommend. I still think the quest three wins on almost every level in terms of comfort, price, tracking, ease of use/setup, weight, overall performance. The only place this headset truly wins is resolution but if I compare it against comparable headsets, I would probably recommend a Vive pro2 instead because the head tracking is so much better, similar FOV, and the quality of the image is not much worse if you really want to get it all in terms of image, quality, and tracking performance you would probably have to bump up to a Varo, but for most hobby users, the price is likely cost prohibitive. Just like the Apple Vision Pro I find this product Annoying because it is very good Hardware and has the potential to truly be something great, but it is not there yet.
